RISE & WIN
CRAFT AND ARCHITECTURE
A lifestyle that exudes tradition
and zero waste
Our belief encompasses the fusion of craftsmanship and science.
We integrate elements of cutting-edge,
forward-looking scientific methods with history
and creativity inherent in the community,
striving not only to impart wisdom but to forge a sustainable society.
Through our endeavors, we aim to create an environment
where the legacy of tradition meets the innovation of a zero-waste lifestyle.
Such endeavors and the essence of a sustainable lifestyle are reflected
in the architectural designs seen in various locations in Kamikatsu.
RISE & WIN
Brewing Co.
BBQ & General Store
Designed by Hiroshi Nakamura & NAP Architectural Design Office, the BBQ & General Store is a symbol of Rise & Win Kamikatz. Constructed from locally sourced Kamikatsu timber and repurposed fittings, the building embodies a commitment to a sustainable society through innovative architecture. The patchwork facade, created with numerous windows, signifies the town's dedication to sustainability. Inside, the rustic cabin-style shop features chandeliers crafted from upcycled empty bottles and heavy machinery, incorporating old tools and expressing a zero-waste approach.
“Rise & Win BBQ & General Store” is the winner of the 2016 Grand Prize for Sustainable Buildings at the WAN Awards, an international award for architecture.
KAMIKATSU
ZERO WASTE CENTER
Kamikatsu Zero Waste Center WHY has become the hub of activities for residents and tourists alike in Kamikatsu. This multi-purpose facility features a garbage station where residents bring waste as well as Kurukuru Shop, which promotes the reuse of unused items, a learning center and exchange hall, a collaborative laboratory, and Hotel Why, where guests can experience a zero waste society.
Just like Rise & Win Brewing Co.BBQ & General Store, the Zero Waste Center was also designed by Hiroshi Nakamura & NAP Architectural Design Office. Its design, which provides opportunities to think about how our lives should be over the next generation, can be seen as an embodiment of slow living.

INDIGO
TOWER
TASTING SALON
Standing adjacent to the brewery is the Indigo Tower, crafted from boards dyed with the rich hues of Tokushima's traditional indigo dyeing heritage. This architectural marvel was designed in 2017 by the British collective, Assemble, who are renowned for seamlessly blending local nuances into their global endeavors. Three members of Assemble dedicated themselves to immersing in Japan's cultural tapestry for this project, delving into Kamikatsu's Zero Waste ethos and Tokushima's time-honored techniques. The culmination is not merely a structure, but a masterpiece born from the harmonious collaboration with the local community.
